Grampian REC was established in the mid-1980s to tackle discrimination as defined by, and within the confines of, the Race Relations Act 1976, and strengthened and complemented by the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000.
At present we have 6 full-time staff, 7 part-time staff, a seconded Police Officer from Grampian Police based at GREC part-time, and a band of dedicated volunteers. We regularly provide placements for school pupils on work experience, and we are available as a New Deal placement.
GREC's mission statement:
GREC is working with others to ensure that everyone is valued for who they are and is able to contribute with encouragement and without fear of discrimination or unfair treatment.
